Miami, FL — Florida Highway Patrol Colonel B. Harrison was taken into custody late Monday evening following being held in contempt of court for openly disrespecting Chief Judge Dan Miller during a warrant request.
According to court records, Harrison mocked the proceedings in front of the bench, prompting Judge Miller to immediately rule him in direct contempt. Harrison was ordered to serve 72 hours in county jail and fined $500.
The Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles has been notified of the incident for further review and possible administrative action. As of now, Harrison remains suspended from active duty pending an internal investigation.
This marks a rare case of a high-ranking law enforcement official facing jail time for misconduct inside a courtroom.
This is a developing story. Updates will be provided as more details become available.
