Miami, FL. — Authorities in Miami-Dade County are investigating a string of gruesome homicides that officials believe may be the work of a new serial killer whose disturbing method of operation involves using a chainsaw to mutilate victims.
Miami-Dade Sheriff's confirmed late Friday that at least three victims have been discovered in the past two weeks, each found in rentals across the Miami-Dade County. Investigators say the bodies were “severely dismembered,” with early forensic evidence indicating the use of a chainsaw.
“This is unlike anything we’ve seen in recent years,” said Sergeant Parzival Queen of the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office. “The level of violence, the precision, and the repetition of the crime scene signatures lead us to believe we are dealing with a highly dangerous individual who may kill again.”
The most recent victim, identified as a 34-year-old male, was discovered behind an abandoned warehouse in Hialeah on Wednesday night. Neighbors reported hearing the sound of machinery in the early morning hours, but assumed it came from nearby construction.
Police have yet to release the names of all victims, but investigators revealed that they appear to have no immediate connection to one another, suggesting the attacks may be random.
Miami-Dade residents are urged to remain vigilant, avoid isolated areas late at night, and report any suspicious activity immediately.
“We are throwing every available resource at this case,” Sergeant Parzival added. “The public should know we will not rest until this individual is apprehended.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at (305) 471-TIPS.
